Non-profit web portal GreaterGood South Africa unveiled its newly improved website during a session on 'Online Giving Opportunities - The Giver's Journey' at the SANGONeT conference and exhibition.
The new portal, aptly dubbed "New V.2.0", has been revealed to conference delegates at the Wanderer's Club on 18 July 2007 in Johannesburg.
The portal which serves as a "connection" tool for South Africans to give to various charity organisations, has an in-built transacting mechanism via credit card.
User Experience Leader, Jason Hobbs, said that the site's objective is to "create a culture of connected individuals who experience the gift of giving responsibly as part of an on-going lifestyle."
Earlier during the launch Managing Director, Carol Tappenden, explained that the organisation had learnt through research that there was room for improvement on the site.
The company then embarked on a process to understand "The Giver's Journey". The process began with a comprehensive infomation gathering excersise and culminated in a testing phase.
Tappenden said that the company also wanted to explore opportunities presented by the revolutionary "Web 2.0" phenomenon.
"We were aggressively trying to clinch that first give," said Hobbs.
In developing the new site the company tapped a lot into Customer Relationship Management tools that have been modified for what Hobbs described as "outcome based giving".
The company dazzled the audience with a plethora of new lexicon for the non-profit space with words such as: "Giver Relationship Management".
The end result was that the audience was wowed by this Facebook of giving. |
